(VERIA, Greece, March 28) -- Chinese reporters are treated as distinguished guests in Greece, with friendly citizens providing free meals to the visitors, a reporter with the Beijing Olympic Official Website said.

The Greek people are very friendly to the Chinese visitors. Some may even provide reporters with free meals after getting to know them, he said.

In Veria, the first stop on the fourth day of the Olympic Torch Relay, a group of Chinese reporters walked into a local restaurant. When they went to pay their check, they found out that their pizzas were already paid for by an old man. Their drinks were also taken care of, courtesy of another gentleman.

In Thessaloniki, reporters enjoyed free coffee while writing stories at a hotel's hall. Waiters gave nine Euros back when they learned that reporters were from China.
