Introduction to Dunhuang

The historic city of Dunhuang is situated along the boundary formed by China's Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang Provinces. Dunhuang, long ago, was referred to as 'Sha Zhou,' literally meaning "beautiful desert oasis," and served as the hub for silk routes in ancient times. [Full story]
